Bob de Vekey GRSC., DIC., PhD.,FIMS 1940 – 2018
The Society is saddened to report that Dr Bob de Vekey died on 16th November 2018.
A personal founder member of the British Masonry Society in 1986, he remained a member until his death. He served numerous terms on Council, until 2017.
Following graduateship of the Royal Society of Chemistry, he gained his PhD at Imperial College, London, in materials science ceramics. After two years at the DETR (then DOE) in London, the remainder of his working career was at the Building Research Establishment.
Bob was the author of numerous papers over the years, in respected masonry journals, and in international conference proceedings such as IBMAC and IMC. He served on a number of committees – BSI, CEN, RILEM.
Respected internationally for his work, he will be missed for his contribution to masonry.
