Abstract
The performance of four partially-grouted reinforced concrete masonry shear walls in response to in plane seismic excitation was investigated by means of shake table testing. The base shear and seismic performance of the walls are reported. This testing program was developed to investigate the effect of horizontal and vertical reinforcement on the shear strength of concrete masonry walls. The walls are reinforced, cantilevered, single-storey walls with no openings and were loaded until major damage was observed. A thorough description of the test set-up and results is provided, together with a discussion of the damage patterns, displacements and energy-dissipation characteristics of the walls.
