Abstract. The paper presents the results of diagonal compression tests of masonry wallettes made of AAC blocks with unfilled head joints, with surface strengthening using two types of fibre-reinforced polymers. The tests were performed according to the RILEM LUMB 6 standard and covered three testing series: a series of unreinforced specimens and two series of specimens strengthened with two types of composite materials: GFRP or CFRP strips. The effectiveness of both types of strengthening was analysed based on the measurements of diagonal tensile stresses (shear stresses) and in-plane shear deformations, represented by nondilatational strain angles (shear strains).
