Abstract
A comparison is made between experimental and theoretical results for reinforced masonry beams using different stress block representations. All the experimental results are able to be plotted on one graph so that direct comparisons with theoretical approaches can be mode. The effect of the introduction of the partial safety factors is discussed. Graphs are included which simplify the design process for both reinforced brickwork and blockwork beams.
