Abstract

A non-linear finite element computer program has been used to analyse reinforced and unreinforced brickwork elements. The versatility of the approach is demonstrated with examples which include panels subjected to arching action, reinforced retaining walls and laterally loaded panels. Even though the material properties used in the analysis are over simplifications of the actual properties, reasonable results compared with the experimental results have been obtained.
