Abstract
A program which permits the user to design interactively a tow-rise hollow concrete masonry unit wall is described. The design is based on the 1987 BOCA Code. Using masonry stresses provided by the program, the user adjusts the size of masonry block and grout spacing until a safe and economical design is obtained. The program will then select vertical wall steel, jamb steel for the piers, as well as horizontal shear steel, if needed. The program is menu driven and has the capability to design walls, with openings, up to three storeys high.
