Abstract
The behaviour of masonry panels subjected to eccentric compression is investigated, using a nonlinear stress-strain relationship for the material. A numerical procedure, which takes into account both geometrical and material nonlinearities, is presented. By means of this procedure lateral deflections and curvature of the panel as welt as the stress distribution in its cross-section and cracked zone depth are calculated. Some numerical examples are reported in comparison with other stress-strain relationships and with experimental results.
