The objective of this study, is to define the visual, physical, pozzolanic and chemical properties of structural adobe bricks taken in 2012-2013 years from the North Bastion and South Bastion and Strut of the Gate of Karacahisar Castle, located in EskiÅŸehir. According to visual analysis there have been twenty different brick matrixes. This means that at least twenty different production methods were used for production the bricks in the past for construction. As a result of physical analysis, the water absorption percentage by mass differs between 14,1- 28,8%, apparent density differs between 1,46-1,81 gr/cm3, open porosity and water absorption percentage by volume differs between 25,5-42,6%. As a result of ignition loss analysis, bricks contain around 2,0-17,5 % of CaCO3 based impurities. According to pozzolanity experiment, it was seen that the structural bricks of Castle do not have good pozzolanic properties.
