The project takes place in the Department of Mining Engineering from Federal University of Ouro Preto for over a decade and it aims to make possible a more effective approach for children and history of Ouro Preto city through the knowledge of the built heritage and Art of Masonry. The theoretical and methodological perspective that this project will adopt is the interest of supporting the development of the city, provide a critical and humanistic view by knowing the needs of the community. Among the results achieved, we emphasize that children had better school performance and a better knowledge of the history and cultural heritage of Ouro Preto. The project issue enables the engineering student to work as a team, including colleagues from other courses and fields, manage and administer human resources, to develop their communication skills, planning, creating, and finally to acquire an ethical and professional responsibility to the community.
