Abstract
This paper investigates the conditions necessary to produce a small scale model of the thermo-structural response to fire of a compartment wall panel. The important parameters which influence modelling similarity are derived by consideration of thermally induced deflection and heat transfer mechanisms within the specimen. The required change in thermal input for the model fire test is effected by modifying the fire test curve. The theory is confirmed by tests on simply supported masonry compartment wall panels subject to fire from one side. Results indicate good similarity between prototype and model and the possibility of application to more complex geometries and restraint conditions.
