Abstract
The mechanical behaviour of approximately 60, two leaf brick walls has been examined experimentally. The overall thickness of the walls was about 300mm. They were built with different kinds of ties chosen from the ones most commonly found in practice and with identical quality of mortar and equal transverse connections. Various combinations of vertical and horizontal loads (both monotonic and cyclic) were applied up to complete cracking. A comparison is made between the different kinds of panel and standard single leaf panels.
