Abstract
The geometrical properties of lattice models for in-plane loading are also applicable for out-of-plane loading (plate bending). The newly developed failure criterion guaranties a gradualdegradation of the model in bending. The increasing eccentricities of the degrading beams provide the opportunity of arching action, when the proper boundary conditions are applied. The orthotropic character of masonry bond is taken into account by a model on a meso scale, which gives results coinciding well with those of more complicated analytical models. The model can be used for a combination of in-plane and out-of-plane loading, as the model itself provides the proper M-N-k-diagrarn.
