Abstract
As masonry walls become more slender the adhesion between bricks and mortar is more important. Tests have been carried out to determine the flexural strength of wallettes made from 16 clay brick types and three mortar mixes at four air contents. There is very little effect of air content on the compressive strength or mortar, but increasing air content gives lower masonry flexural strengths especially for the mortars with higher cement content.
