Abstract
An experimental study of the behaviour of hollow clay brick masonry under monotonic racking toad with different levels of precompression is described. The specimens have been constructed with units having 45% perforation and high strength cement mortar. The response, in terms of diagonal strains, was recorded. Rigidity, ultimate diagonal load and mode of failure are reported. To simulate the experimental response, a plane stress linear finite element model has been developed.
