Abstract

Part 1 of this paper was published in Masonry International Vol. 17, No. 2 (Summer 2004) and described a series of full-scale tests to investigate the long-term stress/strain response of clay brickwork cladding panels subject to vertical restraint from a reinforced concrete frame. The results of complementary tests on small-scale concrete prisms and brickwork specimens were also reported.

Part 2 presents the results of the full-scale tests and compares these with stress and strain predicted from composite modelling of the small-scale test data. A design methodology for this form of cladding is proposed.
