The No-tension Model for the Analysis of Masonry-like Structures Strengthened by Fibre-reinforced Polymers

Author

A. BARATTA and 0. CORBI Dept. "Scienza delle Costruzioni", University of Naples "Federico It"

Abstract

In the paper the basic principles for the analysis of structures made from NRT (Not-Resisting-Tension) material are introduced, and the adoption of this material model for masonry fabrics is discussed. The theory is then applied to investigate the static behaviour of an NRT masonry arch model and to test the effect of reinforcement made with FRP strips of variable length at the intrados. The increment in the structure loading capacity for the reinforced cases is evaluated and compared with the results for the non-consolidated structure.
