CEC – Civil Engineering Centre offers One research position in the field of Structural Engineering.
The Civil Engineering Centre is located in the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Minho and develops its research activities in the following areas:
Construction Processes & Management
Geotechnics
Hydraulics
Construction Materials
Urban Planning
Highways
Structures
Focus of CEC/Structures includes aspects such as advances in experimental and numerical techniques, product development and technology transfer to the industry, durability and reliability, recycle, reuse, conservation and strengthening, and condition assessment. CEC/Structures is organized in three Research Groups, related to Historical and Masonry, Steel and Mixed, and Concrete Construction technologies.
Duties of the successful candidate include carrying out independent investigation with a qualified output research according to the work plan agreed. The selected candidate should be also prepared to coordinate research projects, prepare applications and launch new research projects, or postgraduate or continuing education, low teaching workload in post-graduate courses and supervise post-graduate students. The working language is English.
The successful candidate will receive a salary in accordance with the university regulations for a senior researcher. The contract offered will have duration of up to 5 years, renewed yearly based on mutual agreement. The annual gross income ("índice 195"), before taxes, will be 3.101,87 Euros x 14 months.
APPLICANTS
Candidates should have a PhD in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering (Materials, Structures, Building Technology) or related fields. Preference will be given to candidates with experience or with an interest to work in "Multi-scale modeling", "Blast design and robustness" and "Environmental design of structures". Candidates should have a high quality research record and preferably 3 years of post-doctoral research experience. The selection of any candidate with less than 3 years of post-doctoral experience must be justified and authorized by FCT. The successful candidate is expected to do research in the field of Structural Engineering, to be able to work in Guimarães, and to be able to integrate any of the existing research groups.
