TMS On-line Library of Historic Masonry Articles

In summer 2006 federal funding was approved in the USA for The Masonry Society (TMS) to create an on-line library of approximately 2000 rare and virtually inaccessible articles concerning the historic production, testing and application of masonry. The funding for this project was made available through the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT), an agency of the National Park Service (NPS). These articles are already indexed in an online bibliography through an earlier NCPTT grant from 1998. The texts are difficult to access because most were taken from journals of limited circulation and out-of-print publications. Through this project, approximately 2000 articles will be scanned into PDF files and will be made available in a searchable on-line bibliography. Dr Debra Laefer, Lecturer at the University College Dublin, will be the principle investigator on this project and will be assisted by The Masonry Society’s Existing Masonry Committee, chaired by Michael Scheller of Atkinson-Noland Associates, and TMS Staff. When complete, this new on-line library will allow preservationists, designers and others to access easily these hard-to-acquire resources to help them as they restore and repair historic masonry structures.

Use this direct link to the Historic Bibliography or access it from the Home page by clicking the 'Publications/Resources' button and selecting ‘Historic Bibliography’ from the menu.
