The Basilica Cistern , Istanbul

The website has been updated to reflect the change of name from BMS to IMS, although some forms remain to be updated in due course.

The Directory Links have been expanded to give easy access to the websites of our Corporate Members. These provide some impressive browsing for anyone interested in masonry.

On an international note the 'Basilica Cistern' in Istanbul is an impressive example of 6th century masonry. It was constructed as an underground resevoir 140m long by 70m wide with masonry walls 4 m thick.
