Download PDF Download PDF version of this page

The book "Enclosure Masonry Wall Systems Worldwide", prepared under the framework of the CIB, has recently been published by Taylor and Francis.

The book presents the situation of the enclosure masonry walls used in a selected group of countries (or regions), giving a good picture of the situation in the different parts of the world. Each chapter corresponds to a paper prepared by an author (or group of authors), presenting the situation in a specific country (or group of countries).
The following countries/regions are represented: Belgium, France, The Netherlands and Poland, from Central and North Europe; Nordic Countries, from North Europe; Greece, Italy and Portugal, from South Europe; Brazil and U. S. A., from the Americas; and, China and India, from Asia.
The papers have a similar format, covering the following items: i) characterisation of the building sector in each country/region (importance of the building sector, structural systems used in buildings, etc.); ii) the most common masonry materials (units, mortar, reinforcement, wall ties, thermal insulation, damp proof courses, wall finishes), the most common enclosure wall solutions and the existing problems; iii) trends on evolution (resolution for existing problems, trends regarding labour, quality or durability, and new developments).
The book can be purchased by contacting Taylor and Francis:
