ITW acquire Cullen Building Products

ITW (Illinois Tool Works) www.itw.com has acquired Cullen Building Products www.cullen-bp.com and its subsidiary companies in Canada, France and Ireland. The Glenrothes family business has established itself as a leading company in the development and manufacture of ancillary components for connecting timber to timber and timber to masonry. New BS guide for specifying precast concrete masonry units

BS 6073-2_2008 Precast concrete masonry units. Guide for specifying precast concrete masonry units has just been published by BSI. It gives guidance on specifying precast concrete masonry units conforming to BS EN 771-3 and BS EN 771-4.

The 11th Canadian Masonry Symposium 'Masonry Unlimited' will be held May 31st - June 3rd, 2009 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In addition to traditional masonry topics it will emphasize the seismic performance of masonry structures and the sustainability and long term maintainability of masonry. STAMFORD BROOK ~ Evaluating the Impact of an Enhanced Energy Performance Standard on Load-bearing Masonry Domestic Construction

This PII project is evaluating the implementation of an advanced energy standard on a large scale housing development. It is being undertaken by the Centre for the Built Environment at Leeds Metropolitan University. For details visit the CEBE projects website or see page 9 of NHBC Standards Extra issue 41.

EC6 IT design program from the Danish Technological Institute

DTI is offering an on-line calculation and design program consistent with EC6. The program is available in Danish and English.

EU proposal for CPR to replace the CPD

The European Commission has published COM(2008) 311 final, which is its proposal for a Regulation laying down harmonised conditions for the marketing of construction products.
