Wall ties for reducing heat loss across the cavity

I have been asked does any member know of any new external wall ties for reducing the heat loss across the cavity?

TeploTie

Posted on behalf of Ben Williams,
Director, Magmatech Ltd
MagmaTech Ltd, a UK company, supplies thermally insulating composite wall ties for use in masonry cavity walls; called "TeploTie". The ties are an alternative to stainless steel wall ties which act as a thermal bridge across the insulated cavity. Ties are available for cavities up to 300mm in width.

TeploTie is a range of masonry wall ties made of a composite material based on basalt fibre. The material is;
. Corrosion and alkali resistant
. Stronger and lighter than stainless steel
. 38 times less thermally conductive than stainless steel

TeploTie improves the thermal insulation of walls by removing the thermal bridges created by stainless steel wall ties. TeploTie is an innovation which helps clients, architects and constructors to improve the energy efficiency of their buildings and therefore reduce the CO2 emissions of their buildings through a significant improvement in the U Value of masonry walls. U value reductions of up to 10% have been calculated for traditional cavity sizes (50mm - 100mm). The U Value reduction is even more significant in wide 150 - 300mm cavities (up to 20% improvements in U value). The ties are currently being used in UK projects with approval from building control being granted on a project by project basis. TeploTie is currently undergoing certification in the UK with the BBA.

MagmaTech also supplies corrosion resistant composite reinforcing bars ("RockBar" ) for use in the reinforcement of concrete, cast stone and mortar.
