A log of previous BMS and Masonry events

 

Interbuild Exhibition

Interbuild 2007 - the Building show - will be staged over five days between Sunday 28 October and Thursday 1 November 2007 at the NEC in Birmingham. Established since 1895, Interbuild is the UK’s most comprehensive event on the construction calendar. The range of visitors is wide and varied from all levels of the market - from multi-disciplined specifiers through to specialist contractors, general builders, installers and end users. A total of 44,436* people visited Interbuild in 2006.

The Code for Sustainable Homes and Regulatory Update - masonry sector

The Society is co-operating with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors to put on a series of seminars in different parts of the country dealing with the Code for Sustainable Homes.

The aim is to give delegates an overall feel for the Code of Sustainable Homes, but to show how to use masonry construction to achieve credits and therefore points in the Technical Guidance to the Code.

There will also be update for delegates on the latest changes to the Building Regulations and future proposals.

The venues will be:

Bolton - Reebok Stadium - 3 October 2007
London - RICS HQ - 16 October 2007
Coventry - Ricoh Arena - 20 November 2007
Southampton - St Mary's Stadium - 22 November 2007

ITW acquire Cullen Building Products

ITW (Illinois Tool Works) www.itw.com has acquired Cullen Building Products www.cullen-bp.com and its subsidiary companies in Canada, France and Ireland. The Glenrothes family business has established itself as a leading company in the development and manufacture of ancillary components for connecting timber to timber and timber to masonry. New BS guide for specifying precast concrete masonry units

BS 6073-2_2008 Precast concrete masonry units. Guide for specifying precast concrete masonry units has just been published by BSI. It gives guidance on specifying precast concrete masonry units conforming to BS EN 771-3 and BS EN 771-4.
